Boom Operator

Operates the boom microphone and is responsible for capturing clear audio on set, following the direction of the sound mixer.

The Boom Operator is responsible for capturing clear audio on set during a film or video production. Working closely with the sound mixer, the boom operator operates the boom microphone, positioning it to capture dialogue, sound effects, and other audio elements.

A boom operator has a keen ear for audio quality and knows how to position the microphone to minimize background noise and optimize sound quality. They also work quickly and efficiently, adjusting the microphone as necessary during a take.

In addition to operating the boom microphone, the boom operator may also be responsible for setting up and maintaining audio equipment, and assisting the sound mixer with other tasks as needed.
